1000 Grandmothers for Future Generations works in partnership and coalitions with a number of climate justice organizations. We are interested in using our special position as grandmothers to help amplify climate justice actions and demands. We prioritize activities that target the fossil fuel industry, and support indigenous and youth leadership. We try to lift up and educate ourselves and others about the power of understanding our movement as an ‘intersectional’ one. Our focus remains on organizing around the climate crisis. However, for us, intersectionality means that with that focus, we also recognize and are responsive to the many connections between the Climate Movement and the particular burdens front-line communities bear for so many issues caused by the current dominant powers that be, in our country and world.
